It’s not just another golf outing.  It’s a day of golf that could prevent homelessness and possibly save a life.

Our attorney, who has an office at Royal Oak Beaumont, first met “Cindy” and her 9-year-old daughter in the Emergency Department.  Homeless and without medical insurance, “Cindy” desperately needed treatment for a severe illness.  Working with the hospital social worker, our attorney worked to have “Cindy’s” Medicaid Insurance reinstated and helped her obtain life-saving food stamps.  Cindy now receives additional benefits and with our attorney’s help, received the documents necessary to be eligible for affordable housing.

Our attorney becomes a part of the patient’s larger medical treatment team at no cost, with the goal of improving the overall health and welfare of low-income children and families treated within the hospital system. Your support for this year’s golf outing will benefit people like “Cindy” and others who will not receive the health care services they need or who lack the resources (such as adequate food, shelter or transportation) to appropriately recuperate. In 2016, our attorney received 502 referrals to assist families and children within the hospital. The results have been remarkable and made possible by supporters like you.

Legal Aid and Defender Association’s Moving Justice Forward 19th Annual Golf Outing will tee off at the TPC Michigan Golf Course in Dearborn, Friday, June 16, 2017.  The TPC Michigan Golf Course is one of Michigan’s most prestigious golf clubs. It features an 18-hole championship course designed by Jack Nicklaus, and the course is a member of the Tournament Players Club network operated by the PGA Tour.

We invite you to join us as a sponsor or as a participant for this event. Legal Aid and Defender is a 501(c) 3 non-profit charitable corporation. Donations are tax-deductible.  Proceeds from the event support our Medical-Legal Partnership with Beaumont Health System.
